COME MEET THE MONSTERS:

A SOLO SHOW & EXPERIENCE

Eri Maeda is a Paris-based Japanese ceramicist whose body of works involving whimsical monsters converses with topics of social taboo, cultural pressures, and rebellion. Her transformation of everyday items into totems of protection draw humour and unease, as she explores the grey area where fear, discomfort, and anger meet and become catalysts for self-reflection.

Doors opened 6 pm on the 12th of February, welcoming faces old and new into the exhibition space. Maeda invited guests to participate with demonstrations of her works— one interactive space with Shredder Monster (2026), a ceramic glazed piece housing a paper shredder, as she talks through the process of writing out fears and negative thoughts and feeding (or rather, purging) them to the piece; and the second interactive space located in the lower floor, titled The Passage (2026), an installation reinterpreting the Japanese Wakuguri purification ritual that involves passing through a portal to leave behind bad spirits and receive protection.

Maeda's works are available to view in the artist catalogue, available upon request.
